Edwin Perkins worked harvesting and topping beets when he
was about 15. He had to be careful with
the knife to cut the tops off because it was hooked shaped and could cut his
leg with it. He worked for a farmer with
the last name of Stewart. They earned
six dollars a day. The farm was between
Pocatello and Tyee.
